Pacemaker lead entrapment complicating transcatheter closure of a patent foramen ovale.

چکیده
T ranscatheter cardiovascular interventions are nowadays more frequently and safely performed, thus leading to populate the heart with medical devices. Here, we describe an unusual complication following percutaneous closure of a patent foramen ovale (PFO) with an atrial septal occluder. A 52-year-old woman with history of transient ischemic attack was found to have a PFO associated with an atrial septal aneurysm (an asterisk indicates the atrial septal aneurysm in diastole [Figure 1A] and systole [Figure 1B]; and color Doppler [Figure 1C]). Other comorbidities included sinus node dysfunction, paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, and status post dual-chamber pacemaker. She was then referred for percutaneous PFO closure with intracardiac echocardiography guidance (Figure 1D). After placement of a 30-mm Amplatzer septal occluder (AGA Medical Corporation, Golden Valley, Minnesota), it was noted that the right ventricular pacemaker lead was entrapped by the Amplatzer’s right atrial disk (Figures 1E and 1F). Initial failed attempts to release the lead with a 6-F pigtail catheter

Use of the transseptal puncture in transcatheter closure of long tunnel-type patent foramen ovale.
Two patients with long tunnel-type patent foramen ovale presented for elective transcatheter closure following transient ischaemic attack and stroke. Right to left shunting was confirmed on transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography. A new technique that used a transseptal procedure was devised to enable closure of the tunnel-type patent foramen ovale using the CardioSEAL transseptal o...
متن کاملTranscatheter patent foramen ovale closure and radiofrequency ablation of right atrial tachycardia.
Patent foramen ovale (PFO) can be found in approximately 25% of adult population. Transcatheter closure of PFO is a potential option in selected patients with PFO. We report a case of a female patient that underwent mapping and catheter ablation of atrial tachycardia and PFO closure in the same procedure.

This case report was an attempt to present the importance of diagnostic echocardiography and closure of a patent foramen ovale in carcinoid heart disease. Herein, we present a case of a 48-year-old woman with a carcinoid metastasis presenting with tricuspid regurgitation, pulmonic stenosis, patent foramen ovale, and borderline left ventricular ejection fraction on an echocardiogram. Surgical in...
متن کاملTranscatheter closure of patent foramen ovale using the internal jugular venous approach
Transcatheter closure of patent foramen ovale is routinely performed using the transfemoral approach, which is safe and technically easy. Our case represents the rare situation where the procedure needs to be performed using the right internal jugular venous approach. According to our best knowledge this is the first report of a patent foramen ovale closure procedure with access through the int...
متن کاملTranscatheter closure of patent foramen ovale after presumed paradoxical embolism.
BACKGROUND Many have proposed a relation between presence of a patent foramen ovale, with or without atrial septal aneurysm, and cryptogenic stroke. The effect of foramen ovale closure on the risk for subsequent strokes is unknown. METHODS AND RESULTS Transcatheter closure of a patent foramen ovale was undertaken in 36 patients with known right-to-left atrial shunting and presumed paradoxical...
